Based on our experience with existing buildings and rooftops, Destek Engineering has the experience to evaluate buildings for solar PV additions. Our team can visit the building, identify the structural system , measure it and complete the structural analysis for additional gravity and lateral loads. Solar panels attract additional snow loads, increase the weight of the roof, seismic loads and wind profile of the structure. Destek’s approach is to qualify the building per the current load criteria or show that the loads are insignificant, i.e. less than 5% of existing loads. We also have the experience to support structural engineering scope of on ground solar plants, with design of support structures, foundations and carports. Our most recent experience includes analysis of two Wal-Mart building in Massachusetts for solar PV additions.

We perform the connection design utilizing Risa-Connection and complement it with tools developed by our engineers. Our experience includes, hospitals, schools, college buildings and industrial facilities. Our scope included bracing connection design, simple and moment connection, anchorage and miscellaneous steel. Having engineers who worked for a fabricator, we can design efficient connections that are cost effective and easy to erect.
